The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Fully Endorses Virginia Senator Dick Saslaw for Re-Election
The Senate Minority Leader is a strong ally of Virginia’s thriving gun violence prevention movement
Richmond, VA (January 17, 2019) — The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has worked closely with Senator Dick Saslaw for many years. He has stood by the gun violence prevention movement when few in Richmond did. His commitment to and support of life-saving policies such as universal background checks and extreme risk laws demonstrate true leadership.
To achieve these goals in the next General Assembly, Virginians need a leader who will continue to fight for their safety, reject the gun lobby’s toxic agenda, and make these common sense life-saving policies a reality for the Commonwealth.
Senator Saslaw is that leader. Just Wednesday, in the Senate Courts of Justice Committee, he voted in favor of stronger sensible gun laws, such as universal background checks, establishing an extreme risk law, and child safety legislation while voting against dangerous extreme bills such as permitless concealed carry.
We enthusiastically endorse Senator Saslaw for re-election in 2019.
