Roundtable discussion on gun violence provides no clear solution to the issue

Lori Haas, who works with the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, mentioned that while resources for mental health are important, they aren’t directly correlated to whether someone would commit an act of gun violence.

“To blame gun violence on persons with mental illness is derogatory, it’s stereotyping and it’s stigmatizing to people who may be dealing with a problem and that need treatment and need resources,” Haas said. “And it is valuable, but again, it’s not going to solve gun violence.”
