Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Endorses Governor Kate Brown for Re-Election

Washington, DC (May 10, 2018) — The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) endorses incumbent Kate Brown for re-election as Governor of Oregon.

Governor Brown has made gun violence prevention a pillar of her administration during her first term. She is committed to saving lives in Oregon and has taken action to do just that.

Last year, our organization worked closely with Governor Brown’s office on the passage of Oregon’s Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO), a law that established a process for family members to remove firearms from an individual who is a danger to themselves or others. Governor Brown signed ERPO into law on August 16, 2017.

Following the shooting in Parkland, Florida, she once again showed her commitment to reducing gun violence by signing a law that would remove guns from convicted domestic abusers and closing the so-called “boyfriend loophole.”

Governor Brown is a strong ally and leader in the effort to reduce American gun violence. We enthusiastically endorse her re-election for Governor.
