At CSGV, we work tirelessly to ensure that the gun industry can be held accountable for its dangerous and irresponsible business practices. Through vigorous advocacy, we continue to speak out against the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which provides unparalleled and unwarranted immunity from civil suits to gun manufacturers, limiting gun violence victims’ access to civil recourse.
Under PLCAA, the gun industry is able to avoid standard regulations and ramifications. The toy industry has greater liability in the civil justice system than the gun industry. Currently, the gun industry is afforded unparalleled immunity, which prevents victims of gun violence from seeing their day in court and allows manufacturers to dodge responsibility for negligence.
CSGV has promoted public awareness of PLCAA, encouraged politicians on both sides of the aisle to oppose this egregious law, and rallied supporters to speak out. Additionally, our sister organization wrote an in-depth report on the issue, which can be found here.
Through our robust data-driven lobbying and public awareness campaigns, we are determined to hold the gun industry accountable.
