GOVERNOR, LIEUTENTANT GOVERNOR, AND ATTORNEY GENERAL TO JOIN GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION ADVOCATES AT VIGIL & ADVOCACY EVENT ON MLK DAY

Richmond, VA—On Monday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Governor McAuliffe, Lieutenant Governor Northam and Attorney General Herring will join the Virginia Center for Public Safety (VACPS), gun violence survivors, and gun violence prevention advocates from across the state for a Vigil to Remember Victims of Gun Violence and Advocacy Day at the State Capitol in Richmond.

Last year, 550 people attended the event. This year, organizers are expecting over 700 participants at the 24th Annual Vigil and Advocacy Day.

VACPS is the sponsor of the event. Participating organizations will include Americans for Responsible Solutions, Baptist Ministers Conference of Goochland, Blue Ridge Coalition Against Gun Violence, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Brothers on the Block, Carol Adams Foundation, Charlottesville Coalition for Gun Violence Prevention, Childish! LLC, Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, Community Cultivators Inc., Community Empowerment Ministries of Norfolk, Concerned Citizens Against Gun Violence, Connection Access, Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence, Everytown for Gun Safety, Fairfax County Citizens Against Gun Violence, Million Mom March, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, Moms Rising, Mt. WHAT:  Vigil to Remember Victims of Gun Violence in Virginia followed by Advocacy Day

WHEN:  Monday, January 18. The Vigil to Remember Victims of Gun Violence will be conducted from 2:00-3:00PM. Participants will then move inside the Capitol building to meet with their legislators from 3:00-5:00PM.

WHERE: Richmond State Capitol. The Vigil will take place at the Bell Tower on the Capitol Grounds.
