CSGV Supports Pelosi for Speaker
Leader Pelosi has been an advocate for gun violence prevention for years; there is no better leader to move this issue forward.
Washington, DC (November 20, 2018) — The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence enthusiastically endorses Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for Speaker of the House. Pelosi has been a unwavering ally of the gun violence prevention movement and a powerful voice within the Democratic caucus for stronger gun laws.
As Speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011, Pelosi never lost a floor vote. She is the steadfast leader and strategist Democrats need as the House of Representatives prepares to advance the most comprehensive gun violence prevention agenda in decades.
Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Executive Director Josh Horwitz issued the following statement:
“For the past 30 years, Nancy Pelosi has stood beside gun violence prevention families, survivors, and advocates. She has provided leadership and support that have been critical to the advancement of this movement.
“She has brought her caucus along in support of strengthening our nation’s weak gun laws. Gun violence prevention now occupies the moral and political high ground, and the American people are crying out for congressional action on this issue. There is only one person to lead this fight in the people’s house: Nancy Pelosi.”
