Dear President Obama,
We have many reasons to be proud of and grateful for your leadership. But in particular, we thank you for your commitment to gun violence prevention. You have consistently opposed the dangerous agenda of the gun lobby, and you have given others the courage to stand up for what is right. Your persistence helped many in Congress find their voices on the issue. Your tenacity helped make gun violence prevention a winning issue — not a politically risky one. The executive actions you signed showed your dedication to this movement despite strong resistance. Your words following tragedies in Tucson, Newtown, Charleston, and others helped heal a wounded nation. While an obstructionist Congress may have slowed our efforts, we will continue to fight with the tenacity and optimism you have exemplified throughout your presidency. We have a lot of work to do, but your leadership will continue to guide us in the coming years.
From the bottom of our hearts,
