Alex Jones, the far-right host of InfoWars, has built his career on dangerous, damaging, untrue conspiracy theories. He has repeatedly asserted that the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, during which a gunman killed 20 children and six adults, never actually occurred. As a result of Jones’ despicable lies, survivors who lost children and other loved ones during the massacre have endured harassment and threats by his followers.
NBC’s decision to air the interview with Jones is appalling on its own, but the timing of the interview is the height of insensitivity. Giving Alex Jones a platform, especially on Father’s Day, is unconscionable. It amplifies the pain of those who lost their children in the massacre — children Jones has dismissed as actors.
NBC and Megyn Kelly should not legitimize Alex Jones’ hateful rhetoric. They should not provide a platform for him to spread his shameful lies. Not on Father’s Day, not any day. Doing so destroys the network’s credibility and integrity.
Tell Megyn Kelly and NBC: Stand up for the truth and the Sandy Hook families by refusing to air the interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones!
