Silvia Villarreal is the Research Translation manager at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) and the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (EFSGV) where she translates research into evidence-based policy proposals and reports.

Silvia began her career doing evaluation and research for violence prevention programs in vulnerable communities in Mexico. She was drawn to work on gun violence after witnessing how it dramatically affected youth and their communities. Her research around gun trafficking and violence in Mexico, in addition to the impact of U.S. gun policies abroad, has been published in several academic journals and news outlets.

She has a bachelor’s degree in international relations and a master’s degree in public policy from Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.

Silvia is an avid reader, enjoys outdoor activities and creative writing.
