The numbers are staggering: more than 30,000 lives lost each year in the United States to gun violence, including eight children per day; over 60,000 Americans wounded by firearms each year; estimated annual costs of gun violence exceeding $100 billion, with taxpayers paying up to 85% of all medical expenses...

But behind these statistics are personal tragedies. Every shooting leaves behind victims, survivors—humans beings who must overcome trauma, pick up the pieces, move on with their lives, and cope with the overwhelming grief of losing a loved one.

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence/Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence has launched a nationwide, grassroots campaign to stem this epidemic of gun violence by closing illegal firearms markets. America's gun laws are riddled with loopholes and criminals are able to buy a wide variety of lethal firearms without even having to undergo a simple background check. We believe that keeping guns out of the hands of criminals saves lives and—with our extensive reservoir of knowledge and experience and the high degree of credibility we have earned with policy makers—the Coalition is uniquely qualified to lead the effort to enact effective gun policies.
